The Opportunity
My client is a fast-growing AI startup fresh off an $8M seed round that's revolutionizing the industry. They're replacing pre-internet systems with cutting-edge AI technology, and they need a Data Scientist who can turn insights into impact.
What You'll Do
- Define Key Metrics: Work directly with leadership to establish the metrics that drive business decisions
- Build Predictive Models: Create forecasting and recommendation systems for customer conversion and LTV
- Drive Growth: Partner with sales and marketing teams to optimize funnels and marketing spend
- Create Dashboards: Build and maintain analytics tools that track business performance
- Shape Data Strategy: Help architect their evolving data systems alongside AI engineers

What They're Looking For
- 3+ years in data science/analytics
- Strong technical skills: Python, SQL, statistical modeling, ML techniques
- Startup experience preferred - you understand the crawl-walk-run approach
- Communication skills: Translate complex data into actionable insights for all audiences
- Growth mindset: Experience with funnel optimization, A/B testing, and revenue analytics
The Role
This is an early-stage opportunity where you'll:
- Work in a modern tech stack (Python ecosystem, ClickHouse, Metabase, PostHog)
- Collaborate with AI Context Engineers on cutting-edge data infrastructure
- Have direct access to leadership and influence on company direction
- Build everything from scratch in a data-driven culture
Requirements
- Degree in quantitative field (Statistics, Math, CS, Economics, etc.)
- Must be based in San Francisco (relocation assistance provided)
- In-office collaboration 5.5 days/week - they believe the best teams work intensively together
Compensation
$150K - $225K + 0.10% - 0.50% equity
