We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Data Scientist to work on advanced analytics projects in the energy domain. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy machine learning and statistical models to analyze utility data, uncover insights, and drive actionable outcomes. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, data scientists, and industry experts, to ensure that solutions are practical, reliable, and scalable. The ideal candidate thrives in a remote, fast-paced environment, enjoys translating complex datasets into clear recommendations, and contributes to impactful projects that support energy efficiency, grid reliability, and customer-focused initiatives.
Accountabilities:
- Translate project scopes into actionable tasks and maintain progress tracking using tools like Jira
- Conduct data exploration, validate data sufficiency, and identify relevant sources for analytics solutions
- Develop, validate, and maintain statistical and machine learning models, including time series, ensemble, neural network, and natural language processing techniques
- Collaborate with teams to build and maintain reproducible data science pipelines and ensure high-quality code through repository management and reviews
- Present insights and results to internal teams and clients, translating technical findings into actionable recommendations
- Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from conception to end-user handoff, ensuring client satisfaction
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or R, with experience applying data science methods in a professional environment
- Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly AWS and Azure
- Experience with a range of statistical and machine learning models, including generalized linear models, penalized regression, tree-based ensembles, time series, neural networks, and NLP
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex analyses for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience collaborating in team-based projects and working independently in a remote setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Databricks and PySpark
- Prior professional experience in the utility or energy sector
- Familiarity with customer and distribution grid data models
