Data Scientist Position Summary
The Data Scientist leverages advanced analytics to analyze complex healthcare data, extracting insights, building dashboards, and developing predictive models using machine learning to support evidence-based decision-making, drive improvements in quality and safety of patient care, optimize resource allocation, and streamline healthcare operations. As a Data Scientist, you will design the data pipeline, manage the transfer of data across diverse systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams including healthcare providers, administrators, and managers to understand clinical workflows, data needs, develop data-driven solutions, and communicate findings effectively. This position requires a blend of technical proficiency, domain expertise in healthcare, and effective communication skills to foster optimal teamwork.
Data Scientist Position Requirements
Education
- Master's degree required, Ph.D. Preferred. Major(s) required: Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related technical fields. Work experience considered in lieu of degree.
License and/or Certification
- EPIC certification is required within one year of hire or transfer.
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in data science/data analytics preferred, particularly in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with data mining, ETL, data visualization etc.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, Julia, or Weka), data query languages (e.g. SQL) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, MATLAB).
- Relevant experience with data processing, statistical analysis, and machine learning frameworks.
- Experience with data libraries such as NumPy, Pandas/Polars, StatsModels, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow and PyTorch (or dplyr, ggplot2, caret, Rcpp, Auto-WEKA, paceRegression).
- Experience in Healthcare is preferred.
Data Scientist Schedule
- Primarily day shift, Monday – Friday.
