Description
The purpose of the Data Scientist is to build decision models to more deeply understand the business, identify opportunities and solve problems. This role analyzes complex data sets, extracting patterns to understand what drives outcomes and why, and translates results into a compelling narrative.
Making an Impact
- Create data integration pipelines, merging multiple large structured and unstructured datasets to prepare for further analytics
- Build predictive models using principles aimed at enhancing traceability, replicability, pertinence and trustworthiness
- Define and evaluate key metrics and understanding what moves them and why
- Improve the outcome of decision models and accommodate uncertainty factors by evaluating the contributing decision-modeling techniques
Sharing Expertise
- Demand new, different and even contradictory data to combine with what you already use to minimize the risk of AI biases
- Proactively identify critical yet undefined business problems
- Create experimental analytical/modeling solutions that model variable impacts on desired outcomes using visualization techniques
- Transform data science insights into self-service products for use in business functions
Gaining Exposure
- Communicate techniques, analysis and recommendations to cross functional stakeholders for decision making
- Collaborate with cross functional partners of varying technical levels
- Translate complex findings and results into a compelling narrative
Your Typical Day
- Programming of statistical models
- Operating within multiple data systems and extracting/manipulating large volumes of data
- Executing routine and ad hoc analyses
- Cross-functional projects and teams
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years business intelligence or analyst experience
- Technical: Proficiency in SQL and programming techniques and tools (Python, R)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, computer science, or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree
- Experience or exposure to machine learning and AI tools
