Position Title: Business Analyst
Duration: 6mo contract to hire
Schedule: Remote
Location: Kansas City, MO region
National Travel: About 2 – 3 times per year once converted to a Full Time Employee
Start Date: November 4th or ASAP
Experience:
· Bachelor's degree with 5 - 7 years of position related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience with all phases of development life cycle, including analysis, design, construction, implementation, and following it through to the evolution phases.
· Experience working in an Agile environment preferred.
· Experience serving in a project manager role (or dual business analyst / project manager role) for small- to medium-sized projects preferred.
· Insurance industry experience preferred.
Tools:
· Jira and/or Jira Cloud – required
· Targetprocess – preferred or willing to learn the software
Responsibilities:
· Ability to work independently.
· Must be proactive and demonstrate initiative.
· Demonstrates excellent skills for gathering, analyzing, and validating requirements through interviews, observation, facilitation, and other proven business analysis techniques.
· Demonstrates excellent ability to understand the ‘big picture’ and how systems and applications affect, and are affected by, other applications and initiatives.
· Ability to express findings and recommendations clearly to differing levels of management, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner.
· Knowledge of and ability to modify business intelligence visualization tools.
· Must be able to write and interpret SQL queries.
· Must be able to manipulate and analyze data using SAS.
· Must be able to use Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· Demonstrates ability for technical and creative problem solving.
· Familiarity with or ability to learn diagramming and modeling techniques and software.
· Ability to work collaboratively and to negotiate successful solutions.
· Ability to learn internally developed and vendor-developed web-based, client/server, and stand-alone PC applications.
· Ability to train and mentor staff.
Day-in-the-life of your team:
· Assist Product Owner and partner BA in maintaining a well-prioritized and refined backlog.
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and team to ensure clear and detailed user stories, including mockups, as necessary.
· Contribute to effective team PI and sprint planning.
· Help drive and support delivery of assigned single service and new state implementations.
· Serve as point of contact for identifying and communicating customer needs to Project Manager and/or Product Manager.
· Act as a liaison between states and the internal team to ensure clear and consistent communication.
· Organize and lead meetings to discuss business needs, ensuring all internal and external stakeholders are aligned.
· Assist in data testing for assigned implementation projects.
· Assist Production Support in troubleshooting and resolving issues encountered in Production, as needed.
Certifications:
One or more of the following (or similar) certifications preferred:
· SAFe: POPM (SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager), SP (SAFe Practitioner)
· Scrum Alliance: CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner)
Travel:
· Must be able and willing to travel to locations throughout the United States and with such frequency as necessary to meet the needs of this position and the Association.
