Job Summary:
The Business Data Analyst will play a critical role in bridging business objectives with data-driven solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of business requirements, operational processes, and data workflows to identify opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements. The analyst will evaluate current business problems, analyze alternative solutions, and conduct cost/benefit studies to recommend the most effective path forward.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in writing Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria to translate complex business needs into actionable requirements for development and quality assurance teams. This role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to ensure alignment between system capabilities and business goals. In addition, the Business Data Analyst will leverage their expertise in data modeling, visualization, and documentation to improve data quality, streamline processes, and support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze current business processes, workflows, and data flows to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct detailed requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders and technical teams to capture functional and non-functional requirements.
- Write clear and comprehensive business requirements documents, Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria to guide system development and testing.
- Review system capabilities, specifications, and limitations to assess feasibility of requested changes or new features.
- Develop and maintain data-related documentation, including data dictionaries, data mapping specifications, and business requirement documents.
- Perform data analysis to validate requirements, identify trends, and support recommendations for business and system enhancements.
- Create and present visual data models, process flows, and dashboards to communicate findings, system performance, and project timelines to stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings with cross-functional teams to gather insights, resolve issues, and align priorities.
- Conduct cost/benefit analyses of proposed solutions to support decision-making and prioritization of initiatives.
- Support quality assurance by reviewing test plans, validating test cases against requirements, and ensuring delivered solutions meet business needs.
- Provide subject matter expertise on data management practices, eligibility rules, and integrated eligibility systems when applicable.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure requirements are technically feasible and aligned with long-term system architecture and data governance standards.
Work Hours & Location:
Position will be 2 days remote with 3 days (Mon, Tues & Thurs) required to be ONSITE
