Job Description
Team
Join the FinOps Governance team within the Global Cloud Services organization.
You’ll apply your analytics and visualization expertise to build data-driven insights that shape how we plan, optimize, and invest in cloud resources. Working alongside engineers, data scientists, and product leaders, you’ll help design scalable reporting frameworks that bring visibility into the financial and operational performance of our cloud platform.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Informatics Analyst with a strong foundation in Public Cloud Cost & Usage analysis & data visualization, and storytelling.
In this role, you’ll design and build dashboards that bring visibility into cloud spend, efficiency, and optimization progress—helping engineering and finance teams make data-driven decisions.
You’ll explore large, complex datasets to uncover trends, translate raw data into intuitive insights, and ensure that stakeholders have timely, accurate, and self-service access to key cloud financial metrics. Partnering closely with Data Engineering and FinOps practitioners, you’ll help define data standards, streamline pipelines, and shape how our organization measures the impact of its cloud investments.
What you get to do in this role:
-
Analyze large-scale cloud cost, usage, and operational datasets using SQL and BI tools like Lightdash, Looker to uncover efficiency patterns, spending trends, and optimization opportunities—translating findings into clear, actionable insights.
-
Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and data models that visualize key cloud cost & usage metrics (e.g., Compute & GPU Instance usage, AI Model usage, Storage usage, right-sizing opportunities, commitment utilization, budget health).
-
Collaborate with Data Engineering and FinOps practitioners to define data requirements, ensure pipeline reliability, and maintain a single, trusted source of truth for cloud financial data. Agile program management expertise using Jira and Confluence is a must.
-
Build automated data workflows to streamline recurring reporting, increase accuracy, and enable self-service analytics for engineering and finance teams.
-
Conduct ad-hoc deep-dive analyses using SQL, Python, or other analytical tools to investigate cost anomalies, usage spikes, and resource efficiency issues.
-
Define and standardize KPIs and reporting frameworks that measure optimization progress, budget adherence, and financial accountability across teams.
-
Partner with engineering and product stakeholders to translate analytical findings into data-driven recommendations that influence technical and business decisions.
-
Present insights through compelling dashboards, visual stories, and presentations that connect cloud spend dynamics with strategic and operational outcomes.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
-
Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
-
5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science, ideally supporting cloud, infrastructure, or operations teams with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with without experience; or equivalent work experience.
-
Experience in Public Cloud Cost & Usage dataset of AWS, Azure and GCP to be able to data model and analyze cost & usage patterns
-
Hands-on experience designing and maintaining BI dashboards (Lightdash, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent) with an emphasis on usability, scalability, and self-service.
-
Expert-level SQL proficiency, with the ability to design efficient queries and optimize data models in large-scale environments (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
-
Proven ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that drive business and technical decisions.
-
Solid understanding of data modeling, pipeline design, and data governance principles.
-
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership for data quality and reliability.
-
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with data engineers, finance, and engineering stakeholders.
Nice to have:
-
Familiarity with FinOps or cloud cost management concepts (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
-
Experience working with time-series and billing datasets.
-
FinOps Certified Practitioner or public cloud certification.
