Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Reports To: Director of Data & Analytics
Who We Are
Marmon Plumbing & Refrigeration Group, a division of Marmon Holdings (a Berkshire Hathaway company), designs and manufactures innovative plumbing, refrigeration, and HVAC solutions that power essential industries across North America.
We’re building a modern data foundation that will enable better business insights, smarter decision-making, and scalable analytics across our organization. As part of this transformation, we’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help shape and implement the systems that will power the future of our data strategy.
What You’ll Do
As our first Senior Data Engineer, you’ll establish the engineering standards, patterns, and pipelines that become Marmon’s enterprise data backbone. You’ll design and deliver reliable ingestion from D365 and other enterprise systems into Fabric, shape our medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) layers, and productionize data products that power analytics in Power BI.
-
Architect & build pipelines from D365 (F&O/CE), historical AX2012, and third-party sources into Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory in Fabric, Lakehouse/OneLake, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2).
-
Implement and maintain medallion architecture with well-modeled Bronze/Silver/Gold layers and data contracts for analytics teams.
-
Establish governance & quality: data validation, schema evolution, SCD patterns, standardized metadata, and Microsoft Purview lineage/catalog.
-
Optimize performance & cost: partitioning, caching, orchestration windows, capacity monitoring, and right-sizing compute.
-
Productionize data products/semantic-ready tables for consumption by Power BI; partner with BI developers on model design, RLS/OLS, and refresh strategy.
-
Stand up CI/CD (Azure DevOps) for pipelines, notebooks, and SQL objects; enforce branching, code reviews, automated testing, and release checks.
-
Drive security & compliance: PII handling, access policies, secrets management, and auditability.
-
Build observability: monitoring, alerting, SLAs/SLOs, runbooks, and incident response for data pipelines.
-
Collaborate & mentor: work closely with ERP/data stakeholders, guide junior engineers/contractors, and communicate trade-offs to business leaders.
What You’ll Need
Technical Expertise
-
Deep hands-on with the Microsoft data stack:
-
Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory in Fabric, Lakehouse/OneLake, Notebooks/Spark (PySpark or Scala), Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2).
-
Azure services commonly adjacent to Fabric (ADLS Gen2/OneLake concepts, Key Vault, Azure DevOps).
-
Strong SQL (T-SQL) and Python for ELT/ETL, QC, and automation; familiarity with Spark/Delta formats.
-
Proven data modeling for analytics, incremental patterns, and performance tuning.
-
Experience with D365 F&O/CE (or similar ERP/CRM) data structures and integration patterns.
-
Purview lineage/catalog and governance frameworks (naming standards, data domains, data contracts).
-
CI/CD & Git workflows; automated testing for pipelines and SQL objects.
-
Familiarity with Power BI consumption patterns (semantic models, refresh, RLS/OLS).
Core Competencies
-
Clear communicator who partners effectively with technical and business teams.
-
Ownership mindset, bias to action, and strong problem-solving.
-
Able to set standards, mentor others, and elevate engineering practices.

Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure/Data Engineer Associate) are a plus.
What You’ll Gain
-
The mandate to build from the ground up and set Marmon’s data engineering blueprint.
-
Broad impact working directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
-
A collaborative, forward-thinking culture where your expertise and innovation are valued, with the backing of Berkshire Hathaway.
