Description

The Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines and ETL processes in Azure. The engineer will support the development and optimization of data workflows using Azure services using structured and unstructured data, ensuring robust data handling that supports business objectives and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines on Azure Cloud, including data ingestion, storage, processing, with the possibility of future analytics solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into data engineering solutions.
Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance standards are met within the data workflows.
Optimize ETL processes and data pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
Keep abreast of the latest Azure technologies and incorporate best practices.

Required Skills And Abilities

Experience developing and managing data pipelines on Azure Cloud.
Proficiency in data integration techniques and tools.
Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using structured and unstructured data.
Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps or similar.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data lakes, and legacy database systems.
Proficiency in SQL
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
Solid understanding of security, governance, and compliance in cloud data solutions.

Work Schedule

In addition to the work functions listed above, essential functions of this position also include regular attendance, and the availability/ability to regularly work on site at the primary work location assigned. However, the required work hours may vary from time to time, depending on the company’s operational and business needs. Some travel may also be required.

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Data Science or Information Systems.
Master’s degree preferred but not required.
5+ years of experience in data engineering.
Demonstrated success delivering technology projects, ideally in client-facing environments.
Proficiency in project planning, budgeting, stakeholder communication, and change control.
Ability to manage and navigate cross-functional teams and competing priorities with diplomacy and clarity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Frequent use of computer programs, and other stationary work at an office workstation for extended periods of time.
Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination.
Must be able to effectively communicate with managers, employees, and others in person and by phone.
