Position Overview
Seeking a Data Science Professional to join our client's Investment Team, reporting directly to the Deputy CIO. This individual will work at the intersection of data and investing—helping portfolio managers and analysts solve investment problems through creative data-driven solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical ability with deep understanding of investment workflows, commercial acumen, and the ability to move quickly from idea to execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with investment professionals to identify, design, and implement data solutions that support investment decisions and drive PnL.
- Source, ingest, clean, and interpret third-party datasets using a robust data platform.
- Build and manage targeted web-scraping pipelines to support proprietary data collection.
- Work within a PySpark-based codebase in Databricks and AWS environments.
- Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable outputs for the investment team.
- Maintain a sense of urgency and ownership in executing projects end-to-end.
Qualifications
- 3–8 years of experience in a data-focused role within a buy-side investment environment (public markets preferred).
- Proficiency in PySpark, Databricks, and AWS.
- Strong data wrangling and ETL skills; experience with both structured and unstructured datasets.
- Proven ability to work directly with investment professionals to solve commercial problems using data.
- Demonstrated creativity and initiative in sourcing, engineering, or interpreting data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Independent and resourceful—comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced environment.
