Summary: Vital Services is seeking an experienced Excel Developer with specialized expertise in insurance carrier rating systems. This role involves close collaboration with clients to gather and document business requirements and to design and build sophisticated Excel workbooks using advanced formulas and VBA scripting. Additionally, the candidate will ensure seamless integration of these rating workbooks into our policy management systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Excel Developer include the following:
- Engage directly with insurance clients to gather, analyze, and document rating requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain Excel-based insurance rating models utilizing advanced Excel formulas and logic.
- Write, test, and maintain VBA macros to automate complex calculations and workflows within Excel.
- Ensure accurate integration and data flow between Excel-based rating tools and the policy management system.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of Excel rating tools and integrations.
- Document system functionality clearly for users and maintain technical documentation.
Required Qualifications of the Excel Developer include the following:
- Demonstrated expertise in Excel development, including advanced formula construction (nested formulas, array functions, lookups, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) scripting.
- Prior experience creating and implementing Excel-based raters for insurance products.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effectively gathering requirements from clients and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
Preferred Success Factors of the Excel Developer include:
- Experience within the insurance industry, specifically working with property & casualty or commercial lines rating systems.
- Familiarity with integrating Excel workbooks into Vertafore's IMS policy management system or similar industry platforms.
- Familiarity with other insurance software platforms and data integration best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
