Senior Data Engineer – Texas State Agency (Hybrid – Austin, TX)
Contract | $70–$80/hr | 3 days onsite per week (No C2C, W2 only)
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a Texas state agency supporting enterprise data initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hybrid environment, enjoys solving complex data challenges, and has a strong command of modern data engineering tools in the Azure ecosystem.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL processes across Azure environments
- Develop and maintain data models, integrations, and APIs to support analytics and reporting
- Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business teams to deliver reliable and actionable data solutions
- Implement data quality, governance, and security best practices
- Troubleshoot and improve data architecture performance and reliability
Required Skills
- Azure Data Services: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, or similar
- Databases: Strong experience with SQL Server and NoSQL (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB)
- Programming: Proficient in Python for data wrangling, scripting, and automation
- Data Modeling & ETL: Proven experience in designing and maintaining complex ETL processes
