Job Overview

The Azimuth Group is currently seeking a highly talented and experienced Applied Research Scientist in support of a long-term client project in the area of Speech Analytics. This critical role will focus on building best in class solutions that introspect customer activity inside phone calls: extracting intents, entities and failure points. The Applied Research Scientist will develop a variety of prototypes using existing and new techniques in Speech Recognition, Natural Language Processing and Digital Signal Processing. This role will also run experiments and build models in an evolving landscape, partnering with engineering and business teams to advance the product.

The Applied Research Scientist will contribute to the overall product strategy of the Speech Analytics team. This position is an innovative thought leader who helps solve hard problems related to digital signal processing, speech recognition and natural language processing to provide our clients much needed insight into customer experience and failure points

Outline of Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall product, data and technical strategy of the Speech Analytics group

• Lead research and development of statistical models and connect wide, heterogeneous (audio, structured and unstructured) data, and mine for insights

• Build and test functional prototypes that can be reused and provides reproducible results.

• Partner with engineering team to develop product features.

• Work with the business and product teams to advance optimization techniques, with a focus on measured experimentation.

• Collaborate across teams on data-driven initiatives

• Mentor junior team members and help develop their career path

• Support the Guiding Values and vision of the team through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors.

• Participate in various team initiatives and projects as requested. Experience, Skills and Qualifications

• BS/BE degree in Computer Science, Speech Recognition or Machine Learning

• MS or PhD preferred

• 5+ years in a quantitative role.

• Experience of deep neural network based modeling and natural language processing

• Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods

• Demonstrated ability to prototype in one or more programming language for instance Java, Scala, Python, JavaScript

• Ability to work on diverse projects across more than one language or technology.

• Demonstrated ability to get data from anywhere (SQL, REST API, Mongo/ElasticSearch, Hadoop, flat text file).

• Demonstrated ability to use different model types, data structures used as input to models, target definitions, and the associated trade-offs for approaching the former in different ways.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues in engineering and business operations.
