Managing Director - Systematic Alpha QR (Equities focus)

Summary
A major U.S. investment bank is launching a strategic initiative to build a cutting-edge Systematic Alpha Team within its Global Equities division. This newly created team will focus on alpha generation across Cash Equities, Options, and Futures, and will be built from the top down, starting with a senior hire at the Managing Director (MD) level.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a new business line from inception, backed by the resources and infrastructure of a leading financial institution, and maintain PNL ownership in an Investment Bank environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Team Leadership & Buildout: Establish and lead the Systematic Alpha Team, scaling to 4-5 researchers and quants over the next two years.
• Alpha Strategy Development: Drive the research agenda across cash and volatility products, including signal generation, back-testing, and strategy capacity assessment.
• Portfolio Construction & Risk: Oversee development of robust tools for portfolio optimization, risk management, and P&L attribution.
• Market Implementation: Collaborate with internal trading teams (CRB, Vol Trading) to implement alpha strategies and manage core risk.
• Capital Allocation: Lead discretionary overlays and strategic capital deployment across systematic strategies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with principal trading teams and leverage franchise flow to enhance strategy performance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Background: Proven track record as a Systematic Portfolio Manager or Quant Trader from a top-tier multi-strategy hedge fund or proprietary trading firm.
• Experience: Deep expertise in alpha research, signal development, and systematic trading across equities, options, and/or futures.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing quant teams.
• Technical Skills: Strong quantitative and programming skills; familiarity with portfolio construction frameworks and risk models.
• Strategic Vision: Ability to drive long-term research initiatives and integrate with broader trading infrastructure.
