Software Engineer II - Back-End

The Experimentation team at SIE is responsible for building and scaling the experimentation technology, culture, and process across all teams. Our mission is to accelerate data-driven decision making that helps PlayStation deeply understand our users, drive business impact, and improve the PlayStation experience.
We are seeking a passionate Software Engineer II – Back-End to join our Experimentation team at PlayStation. In this role, you will focus on building and evolving back-end services and APIs that power experimentation capabilities across the organization.
Design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services that support experimentation workflows.
Develop and optimize APIs to integrate experimentation into PlayStation's products and systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners (product, data science, design, quality) to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions.
Write clean, maintainable, and testable code while contributing to code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Support the evolution of our back-end architecture to improve reliability, scalability, and performance.
2+ years of professional work experience in back-end or server-side software development.
Proficiency in Java
Experience with database technologies (SQL or NoSQL).
Solid understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems concepts.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Experience with large-scale experimentation or A/B testing platforms.
Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS) and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
Exposure to streaming or messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
Knowledge of CI/CD practices and monitoring/observability tools.
