Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and business-focused Sales Analyst to join our team. This role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making across our sales organization by combining strong technical skills in reporting and visualization with a keen understanding of sales performance and market dynamics. The Sales Analyst will be responsible for building and maintaining dashboards (e.g., Power BI), conducting in-depth data analysis, and delivering actionable insights that improve forecasting accuracy, identify growth opportunities, and optimize revenue performance. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise and business acumen, enabling them to transform complex data into clear recommendations that drive sales strategy, improve customer engagement, and support overall business growth.
Core Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
- Sales Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop and maintain sales performance metrics and KPIs (pipeline health, revenue, win rates, quota attainment).
- Conduct in-depth analysis of sales data to identify trends, patterns, and growth opportunities.
- Support ad-hoc reporting requests to answer critical sales and business questions.
- Build and maintain dashboards in Power BI that provide clear and actionable insights for sales leadership.
- Use SQL to extract, clean, and transform sales, customer, and revenue data.
Customer & Market Insights
- Segment customers and accounts to identify high-value groups, purchasing behaviors, and retention drivers.
- Analyze sales performance by customer type, product category, channel, and territory.
- Provide insight into customer lifecycle and churn risks and identify opportunities to expand share of wallet.
Insight Generation & Communication
- Translate data into actionable recommendations for sales, marketing, ecommerce, and operations teams.
- Deliver clear, concise reports and presentations to influence decision-making at the leadership level.
Dashboard Development & Maintenance
- Design and maintain interactive dashboards to track KPIs.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timely updates in all reporting tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Python to extract, clean, and transform revenue and customer data for analysis.
Advanced / Preferred Responsibilities
- Use Python to automate data extraction, cleaning, and advanced analytics where SQL and BI tools are insufficient.
- Build predictive or forecasting models to anticipate sales trends, customer churn, and territory performance.
- Conduct cluster or advanced segmentation analyses to uncover deeper patterns in customer and sales data.
- Partner with sales leadership to refine incentive programs, territory design, and resource allocation using data-driven insights.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that make sales reporting and analytics more scalable, repeatable, and efficient.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a data analysis or marketing analytics role.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Python and statistical tools/ packages.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, pivot tables, pivot charts, and data modeling.
- Experience in customer segmentation, cluster analysis, and statistical modeling.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey insights to stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
