Auria is looking for a Software Engineer to support the development of secure, cloud-hosted ground systems. This role spans the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, integration, validation, and deployment. The engineer will build/integrate cloud-based mission planning, scheduling, and command-and-control applications, while also contributing to interface verification and systems demonstrations with stakeholders. This is a remote position with a preference to be located in Colorado Springs, Co, or Huntsville, AL.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Participate in all phases of the software lifecycle: requirements, design, development, integration, validation, and sustainment
- Design, develop, and/or integrate ground system applications including Flight Dynamics, Schedule, and Mission Data Processing to support mission operations.
- Design and implement software components in Python, Java, and C++, including algorithms for orbit/trajectory analysis, scheduling workflows, and data processing pipelines.
- Develop and maintain scripts or utilities (e.g., COSMOS, PyTest, or equivalent) to support validation and integration activities.
- Configure and verify APIs, ICDs, and scheduling services to ensure ground system interoperability.
- Contribute to cloud-native development and integration in containerized environments.
- Support CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub, …) for building and releasing automation.
- Participate in system demonstrations, reviews, and technical exchanges, providing engineering expertise and reporting.
- Document designs, code, and results in accordance with program standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and Government stakeholders to ensure mission success.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of software development or software engineering experience, preferably in defense, aerospace, or mission systems.
- Proficiency in Python (with COSMOS or similar frameworks), plus Java and/or C++.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub) and version control.
- Knowledge of databases (SQL, rational design).
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices, DEE workflows, and interface conformance testing.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle.

WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Experience with Flight Dynamics (trajectory/velocity algorithms, orbital mechanics).
- Experience with telemetry/data ingest pipelines, schema compliance, and ICD/API development.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or ground system software development.
- Familiarity with mission planning, scheduling, or command-and-control software.
- Exposure to simulation tools (e.g., STK, Cesium, COSMOS, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of cybersecurity compliance standards
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multi-vendor teams.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $120,000 - $160,000
