Key Responsibilities
Our AI/ML Engineers play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and business value for our clients. You will collaborate with architects, data engineers, and developers to design, implement, and optimize intelligent applications within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Design, build, and deploy AI solutions using Azure AI (OpenAI, Cognitive Services, Machine Learning).
- Collaborate with data engineers to connect AI solutions to Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, and OneLake.
- Leverage Microsoft AI Foundry to explore models, perform prompt engineering, ground AI with Fabric data, and deploy AI workflows into production.
- Integrate AI capabilities into Power Platform, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Dynamics 365.
- Build reusable components, APIs, and pipelines for AI solution delivery.
- Support client workshops, proofs of concept, and demos to drive adoption.
- Ensure AI solutions follow Microsoft’s Responsible AI principles (security, ethics, governance).
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and document AI solutions with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Stay current with Microsoft’s evolving AI capabilities and bring forward ideas for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft AI Foundry, Azure AI Studio, or Azure ML for AI development and deployment.
- Familiarity with Azure AI services (OpenAI, Cognitive Services, Azure Machine Learning).
- Strong coding proficiency in Python, .NET, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices for deployment and monitoring.
- Solid understanding of data principles (SQL, APIs, JSON, orchestration).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate with clients.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and contribute to client-facing projects with support from senior team members.

Certification Requirements
Applicants for the AI/ML Engineer role must have the following certifications or a plan to attain them within the first year of employment:
- AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals
- DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals
Preferred Skills And Certifications (not Required)
- Certification: AI-102 Azure AI Engineer Associate
- Certification: DP-700 Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate
- Certification: DP-600 Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
- Experience with Microsoft AI Foundry for model orchestration, prompt engineering, data grounding, and deployment.
- Experience designing and optimizing systems for high-volume, high-velocity data, including real-time or near-real-time analytics pipelines.
- Experience with project delivery methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, hybrid)
- Knowledge of change management practices to support data and AI adoption
- Experience delivering projects involving Power BI, AI/ML adoption, or advanced analytics.
- Experience with Dynamics 365 (Project Service Automation or Project Operations)
- Experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub (including GitHub Copilot) for source control, automation, and AI-assisted development.
Pathway To Success
30 Days:
- Understand our JourneyTeam delivery process.
- Shadow solution architects and engineers on active projects while contributing to AI prototyping and early delivery tasks
- Begin contributing to a client project by supporting AI integration or prototyping tasks.
6 Months
- Independently own the design and implementation of customer-facing AI solutions.
- Lead internal knowledge-sharing sessions on AI frameworks, accelerators, or new Microsoft capabilities.
- Facilitate or co-lead client demos and workshops showcasing AI-powered solutions.
- Achieve at least one advanced Microsoft AI certification.
- Maintain a 75%+ customer engagement rate, reflecting consistent client-facing delivery and value.
1 Year
- Serve as a key contributor across multiple AI engagements and long-term client support.
- Be recognized as a trusted advisor by client stakeholders in AI adoption.
- Contribute to JourneyTeam’s AI practice accelerators and best practices.
- Maintain a 75%+ customer engagement rate, reflecting consistent client-facing delivery and value.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $100,000 – $160,000 + performance-based bonus program. Eligibility and payout are tied to individual contributions, team performance, and company success.
This is the established pay range for the Standard and Senior and AI Engineer roles on the Data & AI Solutions Practice at JourneyTeam. Final compensation is dependent on demonstrated skills, relevant experience, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities. In general, new employees can expect to start at the lower end of the range (with opportunity to grow and expand within the organization)
