The Senior Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in advancing the Economic Mobility Center’s data strategy and analytical capacity. This position leads the design and execution of analyses that generate actionable insights into service delivery, engagement, and outcomes — helping translate data into decisions that expand opportunity and equity in the regions we serve. The role combines technical fluency in data integration, visualization, and statistical methods with a deep commitment to equity.
As both a hands-on analyst and a strategic thought partner, the Senior Data Analyst will build and maintain reliable data pipelines for analytics, develop high-quality dashboards and research outputs, and guide the organization’s use of data for continuous improvement. They will collaborate closely with program, product, and operations teams — as well as external partners — to co-develop meaningful metrics, analyses, and strengthen the organization’s overall data literacy. Core Responsibilities
1. Insight Generation & Research Execution
● Lead rigorous analyses that uncover actionable insights on service delivery, engagement, and student outcomes
● Design and execute research projects using sound statistical and methodological approaches
● Apply an equity lens to all analyses, ensuring models and data interpretation account for differences across student, family, and community populations
● Translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences
● Ensure data accuracy, privacy, and ethical use in line with EMS’s standards and compliance requirements
2. Data Visualization & Decision Support
● Design intuitive data visualizations and dashboards that communicate insights clearly and effectively
● Proactively identify and create visualizations or summaries that simplify complex data and support better decision-making
● Tailor reporting to the needs of different audiences — including internal teams, leadership, and external partners
3. Data Integration, Pipelines & Quality Management
● Manage and optimize data pipelines and integrations from EMS’s Data Hub for analytics purposes, ensuring reliability, scalability, and documentation
● Collaborate with engineers or system administrators to ensure clean, consistent, and validated data flows power our data visualizations and analyses
● Establish and uphold data quality assurance processes and documentation standards to ensure reproducibility of analyses
4. Collaboration & Strategic Alignment
● Partner with account managers, program leads, and shared services teams to co-develop meaningful, aligned KPIs and metrics
● Facilitate conversations across teams and stakeholders that clarify goals, align definitions, and ensure consistent data interpretation across teams
● Collaborate with external research or analytics partners to define shared frameworks and prepare clean, aligned datasets for analysis
5. Coaching, Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
● Lead internal learning sessions (e.g., walkthroughs, office hours) to strengthen EMS’s analytics culture
● Maintain clear, centralized documentation and contribute to shared analytics standards and processes
● Continuously develop personal expertise in emerging tools, methods, and best practices in data analytics
Qualifications
● 3–5 years work experience in data analytics, evaluation, or applied insight roles
● Advanced analytical and statistical skills, including regression modeling, hypothesis testing, and causal inference methods
● Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker; skilled at designing clear, actionable dashboards and reports
● Experience with SQL and managing or building data pipelines (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Fivetran) and working with modern data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake) is a plus
● Experience scoping and managing analytic projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams
● Skilled in storytelling with data—able to interpret and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and storytelling through data
● Self-starter with a learning mindset and commitment to EMC’s mission
● Familiarity with public datasets (e.g., education, workforce, labor) and Salesforce data structures is a plus
