Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing Data & Process Analytics
- Integrate and analyze time-series data from PLCs, sensors, and metrology equipment to ensure data accuracy and support statistical process control (SPC)
- Build EDA pipelines to identify process trends, equipment anomalies, and quality patterns in production and operational data
- Machine Learning for Industrial Operations
- Develop and deploy ML models for predictive maintenance, process optimization, and quality control (defect detection, classification)
- Implement edge AI solutions on embedded platforms (NVIDIA Jetson, ESP32) for real-time inference in production environments.
- Reporting & Operations Intelligence
- Create dashboards and automated reports for engineering, operations, and quality teams to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Design root cause analysis frameworks that translate complex manufacturing data into actionable insights
- Cross-Functional Integration
- Collaborate with controls engineers, process engineers, and operations to translate production challenges into data solutions
- Integrate with MES, SCADA, and industrial communication protocols (MQTT, OPC-UA)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience in data science, data engineering, or relevant field in a co-op, intern, or professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Python and SQL proficiency; experience with industrial data pipelines
- Machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, YOLO) and edge deployment
- Strong problem-solving skills with manufacturing or process control applications
- Ability to communicate technical findings to operations and engineering stakeholders
- Hands-on mindset for factory floor problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Familiarity with data visualization concepts and data processing libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
- Basic understanding of machine learning techniques and model evaluation methods.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- TCP/IP networking fundamentals and practical troubleshooting skills (ping, traceroute, port connectivity)
- Database management and connectivity (MariaDB, MySQL, or similar) including client configuration and query optimization
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with a desire to learn and grow in the field of data science.
Physical Demands: This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
