Our Digital Enterprise Engineering Clinical Data Solutions team is hiring a vital member to our team to join growing projects that support our health care system. The Digital Clinical Data Solutions team is Hybrid with onsite work at Assembly Row, Somerville weekly.
The Opportunity
The Sr Data Engineer will be assigned to a product team based on business needs when hired, reporting to the Data Engineer Manager and assigned to the aligned Scrum Team. This team is comprised of multiple product teams within. DBT and snowflake areas most critical for this role.
The Sr Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data architecture and infrastructure within an organization. The Data Engineer plays a crucial role in managing large-scale data systems and ensuring the efficient flow, storage, and accessibility of data for various stakeholders, such as data analysts, data scientists, and business users.
- Design, develop, and implement data pipelines and ETL/ELT code to support business requirements.
- Work on cross-functional teams delivering enterprise solutions for internal and external clients.
- Assume ownership for delivering code revisions and enhancements from design through development and production installation.
- Maintain and optimize various components of the data pipeline architecture.
- Become subject matter expert for internal and external data products Ensure design solutions can scale and meet technical standards and performance benchmarks.
- Identify inefficient processes and develop recommendations and design solutions.
- Lead code review sessions to validate technical solutions and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Senior Data Engineer
- Experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining engineering pipelines 5-7 years required
- Data warehousing development in large reporting environments 3-5 years required and Hands-on development experience working with developing data pipelines using on DBT and leveraging Snowflake features (SnowSQL, Snow Sight ) required and experience working in Agile software development environment required.
- Experience with EPIC health care modules would be a plus.
- Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with enterprise database solutions in cloud or on-premise environments Adherence to sound engineering principles and practices when designing technical solutions.
Data Engineer Requirements and Level can also be considered
- Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
- Experience in lieu of a degree may be reviewed for possible consideration
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience with data engineering and development experience on Snowflake platform.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience with DBT development.
- Expert level knowledge in developing, debugging and optimizing SQL queries.
- Having EPIC knowledge or experience will be a major plus ( would prefer candidates with EPIC experience )
- Must excel in working independently and meet individual goals
- Must collaborate with data engineers on the team while also meeting individual goals
- Perform EDW ETL/ELT ingestions and integrations to ensure support data and analytic needs
- Build and enhance standard solution that provides efficient and scalable ETL/ELT solutions from multiple data sources
- Ensure the quality of data assets and robustness of data engineering processes
- Experience with change control, release management and other ITIL processes
- Participate in building out EDW on Snowflake, expanding and optimizing the data ecosystem, as well as optimizing data engineering processes
- Support BI Developers, Data Architects, Data Analysts and Data Scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects
- Conduct ETL solution, code, and pre-prod review to ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects
- Collaborate with Platform Architect on ETL/ELT new features and train peers
- Perform troubleshooting on ETLs and related components
Identify application bottlenecks and opportunities to optimize performance
