Our client is looking for an experienced Database Engineer with a strong command of T-SQL and a passion for building and optimizing robust, scalable data systems. You’ll be an essential part of a team driving innovation in the consumer finance technology space, with a particular focus on enhancing systems that support loan originations.
This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll work with a variety of SQL Server tools and technologies to develop business-critical data workflows, support application development, and contribute to data-driven decision-making across the organization.
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop, refine, and manage advanced database processes, using T-SQL, stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions.
- Optimize data queries and indexing strategies to ensure smooth performance in high-volume transactional environments.
- Utilize enterprise-grade features such as table partitioning, data compression, and in-memory objects to support efficient processing.
- Create and monitor automated tasks and scheduled jobs using SQL Server Agent.
- Perform in-depth diagnostics using Extended Events, execution plans, and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues.
- Provide support for reporting frameworks, integrating with platforms such as Telerik or similar.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product teams, and analysts to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Explore opportunities to extend database capabilities using CLR integration where appropriate.
- Contribute to system enhancements and participate in architectural decisions across the platform.
✅ What You Bring to the Role
Must-Haves:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
- Deep understanding of T-SQL and procedural SQL logic
- Proven ability to write and maintain complex stored procedures and optimize high-impact queries
- Familiarity with advanced SQL Server tools and features, including:
- Partitioning, Compression, Extended Events, and In-Memory Tables
- Ability to manage and troubleshoot automated processes and SQL Server Agent jobs
- Strong attention to detail, solid debugging skills, and a passion for clean, efficient code
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with CLR integration and extending SQL Server functionalities
- Exposure to Telerik Reporting or comparable reporting platforms
- Previous work in financial services, auto lending, or banking systems
- Comfortable engaging in broader technical discussions and contributing to long-term data strategies
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
